Energised by the resounding success of the Flag Football event in Pune earlier this summer, the EFLI is launching an inter-collegiate Flag Football Championship in Bengaluru this week. The event will be held on 13th and 14th August and will involve a host of participants from 36 colleges across the city.
The college teams have been developed and coached by EFLI mentors and with the confirmation of all 36 of the colleges received, the stage is set for a thrilling competition among these young aspirants.
The entire complement of participants have been drawn from colleges affiliated to the Bangalore University, with the players volunteering to learn and play this competition. They have prepared for weeks now and spectators can expect a thrilling contest of flag football between the teams.
The event will represent the biggest Flag Football Inter college championship in India, ever. The EFLI shall set up as many as four fields inside the Bangalore University grounds to help conduct the games.
There will be a host of games, with each team guaranteed to play at least three times during this championship. The competition will adapt a league cum knockout format, leading to the finals.
The winners will stand to receive a glittering trophy besides medallions and certificates signed jointly by the Bangalore University and EFLI.
The organisers expect to see crowds in excess of 3000 and several sideshows are being planned to engage the spectators with activities and gifts.
Thimmaiah Madanda has lead a massive effort that has spanned many months of interactions with colleges to culminate into this breakthrough event for American Football at the college level.
Continuing on the path of community engagement, EFLI is working with colleges and universities to groom, train and develop interest and skills among young college going youth to expand the foot print of this format and game in India.
